L.A. Zoo Petition Signing Saturday June 7, 2003
Several members attended a petition signing at the L.A. Zoo.
We had a BBQ during the summer at Narita's house to discuss activities for the upcoming school year.
We took a trip to the L.A. Zoo and visited all the animals there.
We took a trip to Huntington Beach.
During Arcadia High School's Club Days, we had a table set up promoting our club and recruiting new members.
Dog Day Thursday October 30, 2003
During our club meeting on Thursday, we had a Dog Day: we ate hot dogs and corn dogs and watched Air Bud, a movie about a dog who plays basketball.
During our club meeting on Thursday, a guest speaker from the company "Heal the Bay" came to talk to our club about our upcoming beach cleanups as well as to give general information on beaches and sewer systems.
Santa Monica Beach Cleanup Saturday December 27, 2003
We adopted the Santa Monica Beach, which includes doing three beach cleanups. This was the first one. We all helped pick up trash around the beach and afterwoods hung out on the pier.
L.A. Zoo Petitioning Saturday February 21, 2004
We went to the LA Zoo in order to get people to sign petitions to help bring Ruby the Elephant back to the LA Zoo where she was taken away from and placed in an enclosed space where she is unhappy. We stood around the entrance to the zoo, gave visitors fliers about Ruby, and asked them to sign petitions. We were very successful and got many sheets of signatures filled up.
Therapy Dog Visit Thursday April 29, 2004
We had a man visit during our club meeting and bring a rare therapy dog named Indy to explain why the dog is so special and how he is used as a therapy dog in several different places such as hospitals and schools.
